Pump Surge Analysis for Sewage Pumping Station

In the surge analysis report, we will propose surge controlling methods and devices required at the SPS and along the rising main shall the surge pressure is outside the design pressure of the pumping system.

We can provide the calculation on the maximum positive and negative surge pressures along the full length of the raising main for the following operational scenarios:

  • Power failure;
  • Valve failure; and
  • Any anticipated operational scenario that may result possible surge to the system or as required by the Supervisor.

The surge analysis of the SPS will also include sensitivity analyses to calculate the corresponding maximum positive and negative surge pressure with respect to the changes of the following parameters:

  •  Top water level of the corresponding wet well;
  •  Time lag between the cascade start and stop of duty pump if applicable;
  •  Time lag between the cascade stop and start of duty pump, if any; and
  •  Friction factor of the rising main

We will report all the results of the surge analysis including the sensitivity analyses for the SPS. All numerical results on the maximum positive and negative surge pressures of each operation scenario shall be presented in both table form and graphical form. The surge analysis report will include recommendations including surge controlling methods and devices required at the SPS and along the rising main if the surge pressure is outside the design pressure of the corresponding pumping system.
